Turkey...check. Mashed potatoes... check...

Ahhhh Thanksgiving.

A holiday full of food, family, football, Christmas name exchanges, naps and bowling... wait, I think we are missing something here.

THANKSgiving should be the day when we take time and thank God for all that he has done for us. A day when we recognize all the good things we have going on in our lives, and the daily blessings that we receive. According to wikianswers.com the phrase "give thanks" is mentioned in the bible 33 times, yet some of us probably won't even "give thanks" that many times in our entire life span.

I believe that as humans we take for granted the little things that we should be thankful for. We think that food, clean water, safe homes, good friends, steady jobs, and means of transportation are rights, not privileges. When in reality these things are blessings in our lives of which we should be thankful for.

When was the last time you thanked God, for anything?

I often find myself giving thanks when a need has been met, or when a prayer has been answered. I think that sometimes we just forget that everything that we have deserves thanks to God, because on our own we would have nothing.

This year I have had a lot to be thankful for. I have a great job, wonderful clients, an amazing husband, loving family, food in the pantry, a roof over my head (which has a pretty nifty fireplace underneath it that I love), clean water to drink and bathe in, loyal readers and a budding blogging career. I won't bore you with the mundane details and extraordinary list, I'll leave that for God.

I will ask you though to think, and maybe send a much needed thank you note to God. He'd appreciate it!
